My name is Heather Elliott and I’ve created this GoFundMe on behalf of Miss Dian, a beloved teacher at Grasshopper Green Preschool, where my two sons and many others have been lucky to have her as a teacher.

Miss Dian’s family, who live in Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica, have been devastated by Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm that caused catastrophic damage across the island.

Westmoreland was one of the hardest-hit regions, and her loved ones there have lost access to electricity, clean water, and many essential supplies. As you can see from the photos, their home has suffered devastating damages. Adding to their hardship, Miss Dian’s sister suffered a broken leg just hours before the hurricane made landfall.

If you know Miss Dian, you know how special she is. She’s patient, kind, and endlessly nurturing. The kind of teacher who makes every child feel loved and cared for. Her warmth and steady presence have meant the world to so many of us at Grasshopper Green, and now it’s our turn to show her the same love and support she gives to our children every day.

All funds raised will go directly to Miss Dian to help her family in Westmoreland rebuild their home, replace essential household items, and access food, water, and other necessities as they recover from this disaster.
