I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and the pageant. My name is Madison Kirwan and I am sixteen years old and a junior at Cape Elizabeth High School. I participate in many activities: I have played volleyball for three years and a member of the speech team at CEHS. I am also a type one diabetic and have been since I was eleven years old, so the pageant experience will help me give back to that community that helped me through so much. I'm very passionate about spreading awareness about type one diabetes! I have been thrown into struggles relating to my health but it hasn’t stopped me from pursuing my dreams! Dealing with a chronic illness is not easy, but this amazing opportunity can help me give back! That’s why my main cause and goal is to spread awareness in schools and communities about the importance of education on T1D. I have been able to do this in a more impactful way because of the Extending Learning Opportunity class at CEHS. I am a hard-working student and I value my community very much. I have grown up in Cape Elizabeth and felt supported by teachers at school and by my community as a whole. I want to give back, and this experience will help me do this. My most recent accomplishment was being selected again as a State finalist in the Miss Teen Maine USA pageant to be held in the spring of 2024. The pageant system is one of the premier state pageants in the United States and I am proud to have been selected from among the hundreds of applicants that were processed. This kind of opportunity is an excellent experience. As this will be my second year competing, I am confident that I can do very well now knowing even more about the pageant and being even more prepared! I know that this will lead to many opportunities for my future. If I do become our state representative, I will represent the State and compete for the National Title of MISS TEEN USA 2024! Obtaining sponsorship money is a requirement for all state finalists. This money will help me participate in the pageant and will give me the opportunity to further my goal of spreading awareness of T1D. I have contacted you because you can help me participate in this amazing experience! You may contribute any amount you feel comfortable donating, every little bit helps!
