Support Mishti

I am Sanjeev Kumar. My cousin’s daughter Mishti is ten years old. Two months ago she was admitted to the Emergency Room at a hospital in Delhi. She had been experiencing severe headaches coupled with vomiting and difficulty in breathing. Mishti’s tests proved positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis, also known as Koch's bacillus, is a species of pathogenic bacteria in the family Mycobacteriaceae and the causative agent of tuberculosis.

Mishti was intubated and treated with antibiotics. After several days she seemed to be responding well to the treatment and was taken off of the ventilator. However, after only a short time she was again put on life support due to a sharp decline in her overall health. It was at this point that a discoloration was noted in her lower right leg. Mishti had a blood clot. The doctors performed a surgical thrombectomy to correct the situation. However, there was now a wound that was growing and gangrene had set in.

Mishti is now faced with the possibility of amputation of her right leg.

We have found a wound care center in Delhi that will try to save her leg using a Wound VAC treatment along with intravenous antibiotics. Mishti’s parents are unable to support the cost of this treatment - regular transportation to the medical facility, the Wound VAC and the supplies that are required, the antibiotics and nursing care required to administer the drugs and manage the wound care.

Please, I request any financial assistance possible to help this girl return to health and a normal childhood that includes laughter not hospitalization. Thank you.
