❤️ Thank you so much for reading our story! ❤️
Thanks to an incredible community, we’ve already raised more than $36,000 toward this goal.
❤️ We’re more than 80% of the way there. ❤️
Those funds have helped us survive an incredibly difficult couple of years, complete major repairs, and move much closer to long-term stability. The remaining funds are primarily needed to get the Airbnb cottage fully operational again and help us make it through the final stretch while we wait for the outcome of my SSDI claim.
The house is livable again. The Airbnb is close to reopening.
My SSDI Hearing is coming up in July 2026, and my attorney and medical providers are very optimistic. Even with an approval, it can sometimes take a few weeks to get payments started. We are hoping for SSDI approval, but we need help bridging the gap until then.
Key Facts:
❤️ Thanks to community organizations, volunteers, donors, friends, and neighbors, we’ve made enormous progress over the last few years.
❤️ Thanks to Portland Housing Bureau and other community agencies, we now have new windows, HVAC, lead paint remediation, new exterior paint, and many major repairs completed.
❤️ I’m a single disabled mom of 3 amazing girls (ages 5, 11, and 15), and we’ve lived here since 2012.
❤️ After a roofing disaster and bad contractor caused a cascade of damage to our house, we were displaced from the main house for over 2 years.
❤️ During that time, we lost Airbnb income (which helped pay the mortgage) because we had to live in the Airbnb cottage instead.
❤️ If approved, SSDI would provide backpay and much-needed stability for our family.
We originally set a goal of $45,000. Thanks to so many generous people, we’ve already raised over $36,000.
The remaining funds will help us:
❤️ The biggest remaining project is getting the Airbnb cottage fully operational again, including electrical work, bathroom repairs, furnishings, and outdoor space restoration.
❤️ Stay afloat (bills, food) until SSDI or Airbnb income resumes.
❤️ Cover past due mortgage payments and bills.
❤️ This is a short-term ask to protect a long-term plan. ❤️
❤️ Once the Airbnb is operating again and SSDI is resolved, we believe we can sustain the property long-term. ❤️
Before all of this happened, the Airbnb cottage helped cover a substantial portion of our housing expenses. Getting it operational again is one of the most important steps toward long-term stability and keeping this property sustainable.
Your support, donations, or shares make a huge difference in buying us the time we need to reach these goals and make our home sustainable again.
With oceans full of love and gratitude, ❤️

Hello, my name is Mishka, and I’m a single mom to three kids. I’ve lived in our home since 2012 — it’s the only home two of my children have ever known. It’s where we’ve built a life full of memories, love, and community. But today, we’re at risk of losing it, and I’m reaching out for help.
Our road to this point has been difficult. I’ve always worked hard to make ends meet, including renting out a small Airbnb cottage behind our home to help cover the mortgage. But a bad roofing job during COVID caused a cascade of damage which left the main house unlivable. We had to move into the Airbnb unit over two years ago — which meant losing that rental income I relied on.
During this time, my disabilities worsened, and I’ve been limited in my ability to work. After a long process, my SSDI hearing is finally scheduled for July 2026. My attorney and medical providers are optimistic, but even if approved, benefits and backpay can take time to begin.
Despite everything, I’ve worked hard to keep my kids stable and rooted. The Portland Housing Bureau has been helping us repair the roof, fix ceilings and water damage, and make the main house livable again. We have moved back in, and over the last year we’ve slowly been rebuilding and moving toward stability — but foreclosure is still looming. Portland Housing Bureau is still helping and these things take a long time.
I’m trying to raise $45,000 to save our home. This includes mortgage payments (past and upcoming), uncovered repair costs, and essentials like bills and food while I wait for the SSDI hearing and restart Airbnb income. If SSDI is approved, I would receive backpay — but it won’t arrive in time to prevent foreclosure. It will be so stabilizing though when it does arrive.
This home is so important to us. It’s stability, safety, community, and connection. We love our neighbors, we feel safe here, and I want to give my kids the security of staying in the neighborhood they call home. Losing our home now, just as we’re finally moving forward, would be devastating.
If you can donate, any amount helps. And if you can’t, sharing the link is incredibly appreciated.
With love and gratitude,
Mishka
