On Saturday, November 29th, we received the news that mom was having chest pains and was currently en route to the hospital via ambulance. Once she got there, they determined she was having a heart attack and took her in to have a stent placed. Unfortunately, they found one artery was 100% blocked and another 99% blocked, and they were not able to move forward with the stent due to the severity of the situation. She was immediately evaluated for open heart surgery.
As part of a typical ER response for a heart attack, she was given a blood thinner, and she currently has to wait until that is out of her system before they can do surgery. Until then, she's at St. Elizabeth's hospital in Appleton in their ICU. She currently has several machines working to help alleviate the stress on her heart, and she is stable. Based on our last conversation with the cardiovascular team, we expect surgery to happen between Thursday and Saturday of this week.
Unfortunately, Mom will be out of work for several weeks at the minimum. Because she only started her job at Walmart in May, she doesn't qualify for their short or long term disability insurances, so she will not be getting paid for this time off. We are asking that if you are able to help, please do. All donations will go towards living expenses and her medical care.
Mom is and always has been a fighter. She loves deeply and is always there to help those that she can when she can. We appreciate all of those who have reached out to us during this difficult time, and ask that you please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this. Thank you for all of the love. ❤️
