Hi everyone,
I’m excited to share that I will be graduating from the University of New Mexico this spring with two bachelor’s degrees in Chicana and Chicano Studies and Political Science, and continuing my education at Louisiana State University for a Master's in Social Work in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This next step means so much to me, and it represents years of dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to building a future rooted in purpose and impact.
As I prepare to move, I’m facing significant transition costs. Relocating across states, securing housing, and purchasing a reliable car are essential steps in setting myself up for success. In Baton Rouge, having dependable transportation is not a luxury but a necessity for commuting to campus, work, internships, and research opportunities.
As a recent college graduate, these upfront expenses are overwhelming. I am asking for support to help cover:
Moving expenses (travel, deposits, basic setup costs)
A reliable used car
Registration, insurance, and initial maintenance
Essential living expenses during the transition period
Earning two degrees has taken persistence and resilience, and I am incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. Graduate school is the next step in my journey, and I am committed to making the most of this opportunity. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease this transition and allow me to focus on succeeding academically and professionally.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page with others would mean just as much.
Thank you for believing in me and supporting this next chapter of my life.
With gratitude,
Miriam
