Miranda Bundren, an AJCHS graduate and daughter of Andy & Marcy Bundren, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in her kidneys, lung, and pancreas in March. Since then, Miranda has bravely endured six rounds of chemotherapy and five spinal taps. While she is currently in remission from her original diagnosis, her fight is far from over. Miranda will soon undergo a stem cell transplant and a final five-day round of chemotherapy, followed by a lengthy stay at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis this August and September. This crucial procedure will help reduce the chance of recurrence from 30% down to under 5%. Because her cancer was in major organs, if it returns, it could have a higher likelihood of affecting her central nervous system.


Despite these challenges, Miranda is preparing to start her junior year at SEMO, where she is a high honors student majoring in Speech Communications and serves as Vice President of her sorority, Alpha Phi. She was working at the Autism Center in Jackson, but her oncology team has advised her not to work during treatment. The financial strain of medical bills, travel, and living expenses for her family during this time is significant.


Miranda has continued to show resilience and courage through this battle.
