Support Miranda: A Mother's Love

Donation protected
Hey Everyone,

I’m Laura, a good friend of Miranda’s. I wanted to share what has been going on with Jesse, the progress he is making, where he is in the next chapter of his book, and a little about his mom.

I visited Jesse and Miranda this weekend. I arrived at the hospital around 5 PM on Friday. Miranda was by Jesse’s side when I got there. She had stayed the night. We stayed until 10:30 PM until I dragged her out and to the hotel where I ordered pizza, and she ate for the first time that day.

I tell you this because this is nothing new. Miranda has been at her son’s bedside since day one. She has only been gone 4 days for the past 2+ months.

When I saw Jesse, he was responsive and did his best to communicate what he wanted and needed. I showed him my new manicure while I was holding his hand and talking to him. He moved his fingers along each of my fingertips, and he moved my hand to his beard for me to scratch.

I told him funny stories about work, but when I told the story of when we first met, he opened both eyes wide and looked directly at me as I relived that night.

Jesse’s mom, Miranda, has fought for Jesse every step of the way. Her fighting and her strength have paid off. Jesse will be going to Craig’s Rehabilitation Center on Monday, March 24th. The rehabilitation center is amazing (craigshospital.org), but it allows for only one residence per family. Jesse’s wife will be going with him, of course, but Miranda needs to be with her son. If you are a parent, then you understand.

Since Miranda has been at Jesse’s side for two months, she has not worked. Miranda does not have money to stay in Colorado and pay all her bills. She is working on Medicaid and disability, but the federal programs are currently frozen.

Miranda is not a person who asks for help lightly. She will not blow the donations on shopping or trivial things. She simply needs some help to tide her over so she can be with her son.

During my weekend stay, Miranda did not even spend money on meals. The only way I could force her to eat was to literally put food in front of her. This is a mama who is emptying her entire cup so her son can recover and live life again.

PS: I understand some people were upset about the original photo I posted. There was nothing malicious about it. I thought it was a wonderful photo of a mother's love. Jesse is sleeping in the photo, nothing else. I changed the photo, so if you are still seeing the original one, I do not know what to tell you. Maybe refresh your page. :) - Laura
Please consider donating so Miranda can be with her son during his time in Colorado. From what I witnessed, she is his biggest cheerleader, and she refuses to let him give up. Jesse needs her with him during this imperative stop in his recovery.
