Diya and her mother are doing everything they can just to survive.

Every day, they spend up to 15 hours collecting cans and recyclable materials, often working until very late at night just to earn enough money for food and basic necessities. Despite working this hard, they recently went three days without eating because they simply could not afford food.

Their living conditions are incredibly difficult. Diya and her mother do not have a real home — they live in a small shack built from recycled materials and whatever supplies they have been able to find.

Diya is also currently unable to attend school because her family cannot afford the school fees. Instead of being able to focus on her education and childhood, she spends her days alongside her mother trying to help their family survive.

They are struggling tremendously, but they still have hope for a better future. Their dream is to open a small shop of their own so they can earn a stable income, have food every day, return Diya to school, and no longer have to spend 15 hours a day searching for recycling just to survive.

We created this GoFundMe to help Diya and her mother get back on their feet — providing immediate help with food and basic necessities while also giving them an opportunity to create a more stable future for themselves.

Our hope is to help with things like safe housing, education expenses, food, essential living costs, and potentially helping them start the small shop they have dreamed about.
