Last week I had to bring my dog, Minnie, to the ER to treat multiple symptoms: almost no appetite, upset stomach and vomiting, and most concerning of all, extreme bloat in her stomach.

I was informed by the ER veterinarian that Minnie is most likely experiencing heart failure, and it was causing a buildup of fluid in her abdomen.

The costs for treatment, which includes monitoring, ultrasounds, blood work, medications, and more could go up to an estimated total of over four thousand dollars; $4,319.46 was the given estimate on the invoice.

Thankfully I was able to afford some treatment for immediate care for Minnie. Specifically: draining the liquid from her body. Unfortunately, I was told that without addressing the heart failure, the fluid would continue to build up and Minnie's health would decline again, within as early as a week.

By giving her full treatment now and addressing her heart failure, we can possibly give Minnie 6-24 more months of life.

However, my only current financial options are to repeatedly bring her to the ER to stabilize her bloat, which totaled to about one thousand dollars, and is just not sustainable. Or to proceed with quality of life care, which would mean putting Minnie down.

Minnie still has so much life in her, which we only saw impacted by the heavy buildup of fluid in her body. After bringing her home from the ER last week, we saw an immediate improvement to her appetite, her energy levels, and her excitement around our home.

With your support, I would be able to give my dog the care that she needs, and be able to spend more time with her instead of having to say goodbye. This care could be the difference between worrying every day that she might suddenly decline and pass or having the chance to have the rest of the year or more with her around.

Any contributions will be going towards her care at the veterinary hospital. The fundraiser goal is based on the estimate we received regarding the treatment they recommend for her. If more than the goal is raised, I will use the remaining contributions towards follow up care or towards any future treatments Minnie might need to keep her healthy and alive.
