EVERETT & CHARLIE is an independent Art Gallery in Linden Hills, Minnesota with high quality, hand-crafted art that is for sale. The gallery represents over 60 local artists who pour their heart, soul, and brilliance into every piece of their work.
Hello, I'm Suzie Marty, an artist and educator with a long history of managing and selling art. I am also the sole owner and employee of Everett & Charlie Art Gallery. This gallery is my dream and my passion, and it’s named after my two grandsons.
Many of the artists I represent are full time artists who support themselves solely through the sale of their art. Everett & Charlie just came through it's first year in business, ran into several big unexpected challenges along the way (the force of mother nature being one), and needs your help to keep the doors open.
"Imagine a nearby place where you are drawn in, drawn to a piece of art, inspired. Experience a place with quality art; feel the energetic connection of art and the artist who created it; visit with the curator; enjoy art events; live music; watch artist demonstrations; engage with local authors who share through spoken word." Meet Everett & Charlie Gallery!
THE REASON FOR THIS GO FUND ME PAGE is that starting a new business takes more than sweat equity. In May of 2018 I secured a small business loan at the outset for startup and some operating costs. But - our first winter was a long, hard one. Gallery events and art openings had to be canceled, so sales were down overall. Established neighboring shops and restaurants were also impacted. In addition, Linden Hills lost two major 25-year retailers, which has affected traffic. I've taken on a second job, so am working seven days a week and am not sure how long I can sustain this pace.
The local community, greater community of Minneapolis, and the art community all love the collection at Everett & Charlie Gallery. They love the quality, diversity, energy, and range of prices; and they love the connection with me as well as my expertise. People love that I represent over 60 local artists, that the artists are being given a platform other than art fairs, and are thrilled when they get to meet the artists themselves.
I'm proud of and believe in this gallery! I'm moved by peoples reactions when they walk into the gallery! I believe all art creates an emotional experience that we benefit from. If we're drawn to a piece of art there's a reason. Whether it'a a painting, a piece of pottery, music, jewelry, or poetry, we're moved, we're feeling an energetic connection with the piece or the artist who created it, and we will be enriched with it as part of our daily life.
I am grateful for the support of my friends and family, which has been amazing, and now I'm reaching out to the greater community to ask for your immediate support. FUNDS WOULD HELP WITH:
- everyday overhead costs
- my time running the gallery
- they would allow me to hire part time help
- pay down loans
- increase marketing across all avenues of media
- and contribute to community and business association sponsorships that bring people into the community and support the local arts.
