Support Mindy’s Cancer Battle

Donation protected
As many of you know, my sister, Mindy, has been battling Breast Cancer. She is nearing the end of the chemotherapy portion of her treatment but the journey isn’t finished yet. The next portion of treatment will require her to spend six weeks in Bismarck which is 120 miles away from their home. Mindy and her husband, Sam, have done an amazing job of maintaining normalcy for their five kids through this process. They have supported each other and now it’s our turn to support both of them. The following is a post that Mindy made on Facebook in January better describing her journey. “I don't post a lot of personal things on Facebook, but this post is probably a little bit overdue. About 3 months ago, I went in for a mammogram that started a whirlwind of testing. By October 10th, we finally had the phone call we were waiting for with the final results. It was not the results we were hoping for as I had tested positive for breast cancer, and it involved at least one lymph node. This set off more testing and lots of doctor appointments. Phase one of my treatments has been chemo, and I am half done already. Thankfully, my body is handling it well, and I mainly deal with fatigue. I still have some of my hair, but it is pretty thin. In the following 8 weeks, will be 4 more chemo treatments, but we will be switching up the type of chemo. Phase 2 will be surgery, and the type of surgery needed will depend on how much the tumor shrank with the chemo. I can feel it shrinking, but no scans will be done until I am done with chemo. Then, finally, Phase 3 is radiation treatment in Bismarck. This will be challenging logistically as I have to be there 5 days a week, and as of right now, we are expecting 6 weeks of treatment. So many have asked how they can help, and I am so blessed to have such a massive group of people praying for me. I am also blessed that I have been able to keep up with most things so far. Ava has been amazing in taking on the soccer mom role and driving Ethan and Alex to a large number of practices, as well as getting herself to her activities. Sam has been able to go to every appointment and treatment so far. I am very grateful for the flexibility in his job and today's technology.” Sam and Mindy would never ask for help, but I know it would be a wonderful blessing for their family. Thank you for supporting them and offering up your prayers.
