My name is Mindy Johnson. I'm a 35-year-old single mother of 5. I've spent almost all of my life simply surviving, but we all know surviving isn't exactly simple. That being said, it has been quite the journey to get here.
With my 5 children aging from 17 years to 3 years old, and one of my preteens having some mental health disorders that require a lot of supervision, redirection, patience, and understanding, resulting in no one wanting to help with them, and considering not one of their fathers does anything for them, with them, or even acknowledges them, it makes life challenging.
By the grace of God, I finally have taken the biggest step towards building my future and conquering my dreams by completing enrollment and registration at OTC college. Luckily, there is great assistance offered to help me cover the financial requirements; however, you have to meet certain criteria in order to get most of the different financial aid options. For 35 years, I've done it the hard way, just surviving, not asking for help, and white-knuckling it through life's hecticness. This time, I'm brave enough to ask for help so I can get a leg up in life.
All my school costs will be covered except about $500 of my summer classes. The lack of financial aid for the summer semester is because they only have limited summer classes available, leaving me ineligible to receive other resources or receive the full grant amount because I can't meet the credit requirements for the financial aid offers. I don't want to let this hinder me from furthering my education when I'm right here at the threshold. I will have until August before the last half of my payment is due.
My child having so many problems has restricted me completely from gaining employment currently and for the last 7 months now. I've had to homeschool him as well these last 7 months, trying to get him at his grade level. Please help me stay in college by donating whatever you can to help my cause, so I don't have to drop out of my class because I can't cover the rest of the summer semester.
