Support for My Parents in Their Time of Need
Hello! We’re reaching out to ask for your support for my parents as they face mounting medical bills and daily expenses. Their journey is detailed below, and every little bit helps. We are truly grateful for any assistance you can provide. Thank you, and God bless!
On October 1st, my mom, Mindi, thought she was simply dealing with a cold or sinus infection. She believed she had it under control until she took a serious fall while going down the stairs, feeling dizzy and unwell. This alarming event led us to the ER, where we discovered her oxygen levels were dangerously low, in the 60s. Mindi was immediately admitted for treatment and monitoring.
While there, we held onto hope as her condition initially improved. However, on Saturday morning, things took a turn for the worse. Her CO2 levels soared, and she was found unresponsive. The medical team quickly performed a rapid response and placed her on a ventilator and a feeding tube; sedating her completely putting her into the ICU. We feared the worst, but anyone who knows Mindi knows she is a fighter. By Sunday morning, she was awake and breathing on her own with very little help!!
By Sunday night, she was on a BPAP machine to help manage her oxygen levels as she battled pneumonia that had affected her lungs. Her lungs were so stiff she couldn’t get all the air in or out that she needed to. After several days in the hospital, she was finally discharged with oxygen tanks and an oxygen concentrator to support her recovery at home. Though she’s on the path to healing, the journey is far from over.
Throughout this ordeal, my mom's work family has stepped up to support her recovery. However, my dad, Kevin, has faced his own challenges. From the moment Mindi was hospitalized, he was by her side, communicating daily with his employer. Keep in mind, he was (still is) battling a sickness as well. When he returned to work on Wednesday, he was informed that he was not reliable and was let go effective immediately. The same guy who was hired for M-F and then without notice had his schedule changed to Tues-Sat and thrown in additional weeks of driving trucks for the night shift. He was shipped off to different states with minimal notice to pick up vehicles that were abandoned by other colleagues while they continued to work. That is a story for another time.
Now, my mom is on leave, and my dad has lost his income temporarily. While they will find their footing again, we are reaching out for a helping hand during this difficult time. Any support you can provide will mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We appreciate your kindness and generosity.
