Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Mina’s story. Mina is my 4-year-old Chihuahua mix who was rescued from the streets of Mexico, along with her sister, by my mom. When they first arrived, I instantly knew Mina was meant to be my forever dog.
Unfortunately, Mina’s health has taken a serious turn for the worse due to an undiagnosed condition. On August 4th, I brought her to the vet, where they suspected she might have Addison’s disease. The tests came back inconclusive, and after a $1,200 bill, she was sent home with medication. Later that same night, her condition worsened, and I rushed her to the ER. The visit cost $4,500, but at that moment, I didn’t care about the cost — I just wanted my baby to be okay and come back home with me. The ER vet told me it was just an upset stomach and that she should recover soon.
Now, a month and a half later, her symptoms have returned — she’s not eating, she’s been vomiting, has no energy, and no longer gets up for cuddles when I come home. I brought her back to the vet today, and they told me I have two options: to start treatment for Addison’s disease or to put her down.
I’m currently a college student and in between jobs due to an unexpected housing situation, so money is very tight right now. I only have $500 to put toward her treatment. I’m doing everything I can, but I need help.
Mina isn’t “just a dog” — she’s my first baby, my best friend, and the sweetest soul. I truly believe she still has more love and life left to give. Anything, truly anything, would mean the world to us and help give her another chance.
Thank you so much for reading Mina’s story and for any kindness you can offer. ❤️
