Hi, my name is Mimi. I'll start by saying that I have struggled with addiction to pills for about 20 years after a car accident. I was tired of constantly having to chase them and ended up going to a methadone clinic to try to help me. I was 8 months pregnant and got into an accident with a semi tractor trailer. My son was fine, but I ended up breaking and having to get metal in every limb. So after 10 more years of struggling with addiction, I got into a little trouble and didn’t realize it was God leading me to my way out!
I’m now one year and one month sober off everything, an active participant in the drug court of Dawson county in phase 3 out of 5 phases, I’ve been at New Day of Dawson Rehab in Dawsonville, GA for 11 months. I was blind in my left eye for 8 years after my ex-boyfriend hit me in my eye and put a hole in my cornea. I had my cornea transplant surgery in January of this year and now have my sight back. But it did take me 2 1/2 months to be able to be in any kind of light.
So I fell behind on my rent here at the rehab and my monthly bill with drug court. I’m trying to pay off what I owe here at the rehab so that in a month or two I can get moved into my own place somewhere in Dawsonville, GA. I do have a full-time job and also attend college courses to become a medical administrative assistant. But it’s really hard to pay the $250 a week and pay up the back rent that I owe. Anything will be a blessing! Thank you and God Bless.
