Hey everybody, my name is Mimi and this is my story:

When I was 14 years old, I moved to Pennsylvania. Throughout my adolescence, I moved house to house a lot, staying with family members and friends. There were also times I lived in my car and even stayed in hotels, just trying to do the best that I could.

I was 17 when I got my first apartment but being young and making the wrong decisions, I got evicted within the first few months. At 18 years old, with an eviction on my record, it was practically impossible to secure another lease for myself.

That's when I decided to buy a house. I bought my property in 2021 at a tax sale for a little less than $2,200. Everything happens for a reason and it is truly a blessing to have. I gutted the house down to the studs and quickly realized I didn't have the money nor the skills to remodel it.

But I was determined and started the renovations as a DIYer, watching YouTube videos and truthfully just winging it. In 2022, I inhabited the property as my primary residence and enrolled at a trade school to learn construction. I graduated with my Associate's Degree in Building Technology at the beginning of 2024.

I started a TikTok series called "Fixing My Mfing House Again" where I record the work I do and track the progress of my renovations. It was and has been surprisingly successful. This is what inspired me to make a GoFundMe.

With all of the traffic and views on my videos, I thought "if I can get 20k people to send me $1, that's $20,000."

So here I am.

I thought about making a GoFundMe plenty of times in the past, but looked at myself as though I would be "begging" and continuously told myself "you need to do it on your own." But let's be real, everything is expensive and I make an average living. I have confidence in my ability to accomplish my goals on my own, but a little bit of help would take me SO far, so fast! And I'm not afraid to ask for help anymore.

Edit: I originally made this GoFundMe back in August of 2024 but never found the courage to post the link. I am 4 months pregnant now and pride cannot be apart of the equation anymore. I'm running out of time...Even with the money I'm making and the efforts I've been putting forward, I'm afraid it won't be enough to make this house a home before my baby arrives. I have a whole house to remodel and still need to purchase new furniture and prepare for my daughters arrival. On top of all the normal bills and living expenses that naturally come with life... Many people in my comments express their wishes to help, which would be incredible, but y'all are hours and states away. It seems like there is no better time than now to finally post my GoFundMe.
