Support Milt's Battle with Prostate Cancer
Donation protected
Hi & welcome to the Highfill's story. Thank you for visiting. Milt Highfill and his family have recently been given some heavy news and are now expected to fight big. On behalf of the family, we ask kindly for your support during their extremely difficult time.
In late November 2024, Milt went into the hospital for intense sciatica pain that would not resolve. Otherwise healthy, he was expecting a slipped disc, pinched nerve or something simple while he knew there was something not right with this intense pain. While being monitored and followed by neurosurgery, the family was told that oncology was being called in. To their surprise, the sciatica/leg pain was caused by a tumor on his S1 pressing on the sciatic nerve. After a biopsy and 6 days in the hospital, Milt was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer that has spread to the sacrum, pelvic bones and localized lymph nodes, at just 40 years old. With no prior family history, this came as a shock to the entire family unit. Quickly, he was going to doctors visits every single day to get an exact diagnosis and a treatment plan. Milt went through 5 rounds of radiation and is now in the middle of 6 rounds of chemotherapy over the next 4.5 months. He is also on hormone blocking therapy and a dozen medications to help suppress the prostate & stop the spread of his cancer. Milt is a rink general manager, hockey instructor, husband and father to two boys ages Kade (16) and (9). The family will be going through a very stressful time while Milt fights cancer. As medical bills, expenses and travel expenses pile up, they are overwhelmed with this new normal of cancer care. The family would love support from their friends and family to take the stress of worrying about medical expenses off their plate, while allowing them to focus on spending quality time together and Milt's health. Small contributions can add up to a lot of support for this family during this unimaginable and difficult time.
