Well, it has been a long and challenging afternoon, but I have taken the first steps to ensure a precious little pug I picked up is safe. He is now at Gertie‘s Safe Place for Pugs.
I took him to animal services, where the vet techs examined him and sent messages and videos to the veterinarian, demonstrating their commitment to help him get care. Although they only perform the type of surgery he needs on Fridays and tomorrow is fully booked. I am determined to ensure this little one receives the urgent care he needs tomorrow.
Since he was thrown from a car in New Mexico, I would need to take him to animal services there and restart the process, but I am not going to do that. I am not willing to let this innocent creature suffer in agony for eight days, exposed to the risk of infection, so I have decided to take him to Dr. C in Anthony tomorrow. Dr. C is the trusted vet who cares for my own beloved pets. To prepare him for potential surgery, I will make sure he has nothing to eat or drink after midnight tonight.
My heart goes out to this poor little guy, who is crying in pain, and I am deeply moved by his resilience. The vet techs believe he is only about six months old and that his eye injuries were inflicted deliberately, which is absolutely heartbreaking. Milo‘s right eye has now begun bleeding. It is devastating to think that someone could have intentionally harmed this defenseless creature, leaving him to suffer before throwing him from a moving car. Milo, as the kind young lady who cared for him overnight has named him, is not only in physical pain but also severely underweight, indicating that he was not receiving the nourishment he needed.
Despite all he has endured, Milo is a shining example of courage and strength, and I am determined to be a part of his journey towards healing and happiness.
