My name is Yvette Glover. I am humbly asking for support in helping my sister Millicent Gilmore and her family during a difficult time.
** Update - I am new to doing this so somehow the full story didn't publish so here it is: **
Millicent has been diagnosed with an operable brain tumor that is causing debilitating pain and stroke-like symptoms, significantly impacting her quality of life and her ability to work at full capacity.
Millicent is one of the strongest women I know. As a young, divorced mother, she defied the odds—earning her degrees and building a successful career in engineering while raising her family. If you know Millicent, she is always the problem solver, source of encouragement and a natural giver to anyone in need. She is the proud and devoted mother of eight children and the loving “Mimi” to seven beautiful grandchildren, all of whom mean the world to her.
This should be one of the most joyful times for our family. Her youngest child is set to graduate high school in May 2026 with an outstanding 4.4 GPA and plans to follow in Millicent’s footsteps by pursuing a career in engineering at her mother's beloved Southern University and A&M College. However, this moment has been overshadowed by this unexpected and life-altering diagnosis.
While we are grateful that her tumor is operable and remain hopeful for a successful surgery, the financial burden is overwhelming. Millicent is the primary source of financial support for her household, including a child currently in college and another preparing to attend. The stress of managing her health, upcoming surgery, and financial responsibilities has placed an immense strain on her.
We are raising funds to help cover the portion of her surgery and medical care not covered by insurance, as well as to support her household and family needs during her recovery period when she is unable to work.
If you are able to give, no amount is too small. If you cannot donate, we ask that you please share this fundraiser and keep Millicent in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and love during this incredibly difficult time.
Her part of the surgery is estimated at $30K-50K. I did this fundraiser in the recommended incremental milestones, so it doesn't seem too impossible. Again, anything is graciously appreciated and a blessing to her and her family. Sorry for the first publishing leaving out the actual issues. Thanks!
