My name is Ashley, and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my best friend, Autumn, her husband, Wendell, and their beautiful children — Mila, Blaze, & Scottie.

Autumn has been my best friend since childhood, and I’ve known Wendell since college. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of watching them build a loving family and raise three incredible children. Never in a million years did I imagine I would be writing these words.

Months ago, their oldest daughter, Mila, began experiencing unexplained belly pain. Despite multiple medical visits, her symptoms were initially believed to be manageable, and her family was encouraged to keep her comfortable while the condition was expected to resolve on its own. But Autumn knew something wasn’t right. Trusting her instincts, she continued advocating for her daughter and ultimately took Mila to the emergency room.

That decision changed everything. After extensive testing, Mila was diagnosed with Stage IV diffuse anaplastic Wilms tumor, a rare and aggressive form of childhood kidney cancer.

Since that day, life has become a whirlwind of hospital stays, treatments, procedures, and unimaginable decisions. Every day has required incredible strength from this family.

Most recently, Mila experienced another heartbreaking setback. The path forward now depends on how she heals in the coming days and on the guidance of additional expert opinions. Like any parent, Autumn and Wendell want to know they have explored every possible option available.

Throughout this journey, they have been surrounded by an incredible community. Family, friends, neighbors, classmates, and loved ones—including those like the Seider family—have blessed them with childcare support, prayers, cards, gifts, and unwavering love.

While that support has meant the world, the financial burden of this diagnosis and fight are beginning to mount.

Today, Autumn is balancing Mila’s care with the daily responsibilities of caring for their other two children, managing their household, and making the frequent trips to and from the hospital that come with caring for a critically ill child. Between medical expenses, transportation, fuel, parking, meals away from home, and the costs associated with pursuing expert second opinions, the financial strain has become overwhelming.

We are asking for your help so that financial concerns never stand in the way of Mila receiving the very best care possible.
