Unfortunate Update on Mila’s GoFundMe story ️
Sadly, we have had to say goodbye to our beautiful Mila on 18th August. After another serious drop and the prospect of further emergency veterinary care and multiple nights in the veterinary hospital, we made the heartbreaking decision that it was kinder to let her peacefully fall asleep.

Mila fought so incredibly hard, and we did everything we could to give her the best chance. Although she is no longer with us, the financial impact of her treatment unfortunately remains. The GoFundMe will now be used to help repay the loan I took out to cover Mila’s £8,000 emergency surgery in April, which was the beginning of the long journey of illness and treatment that followed.

Any remaining donations and future contributions will go directly towards paying off this loan, while also helping us honour Mila and everything she went through

Original GoFundMe story
Our lives changed overnight when Mila became critically ill. She was diagnosed with pyometra, a life-threatening infection that required emergency surgery to save her life. Thankfully, she pulled through, but the infection left us with another devastating diagnosis: diabetes.

Mila now relies on insulin injections every single day, alongside regular blood tests, veterinary check-ups, blood glucose monitors, prescription food and lifelong medical care. While I’m endlessly grateful she’s still here with me, the financial reality of keeping her healthy has been overwhelming.

To make matters even harder, Mila is currently battling a resistant urinary tract infection, conjunctivitis and rapidly developing cataracts-all complications linked to the severe infection she suffered just a few months ago. She also has lasting kidney damage from the pyometra, meaning she requires even closer monitoring and ongoing treatment. Despite everything she’s been through, she still greets every day with a wagging tail, a happy spirit and so much love. She hasn’t stopped fighting and neither have I.

Unfortunately, Mila wasn’t insured when she became ill. I’ve emptied my savings and taken out a loan to pay for her emergency surgery and the treatment she desperately needed. I don’t regret a single penny because she means the world to me, but the reality is that I can no longer keep up with the costs on my own.

I’m only 21 years old and in my first year of building my own business. Like many people my age, I’m trying to build a future while making sure Mila has everything she needs. Her ongoing care now costs between £200 and £400 every month, covering insulin, syringes, blood glucose monitors, prescription food, regular blood tests and veterinary appointments. Those costs are on top of the thousands already spent to save her life.

Asking for help is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but I’m creating this fundraiser because I want to give Mila the long, happy life she deserves. Without financial support, I may one day be faced with the heartbreaking decision of euthanasia-not because Mila has stopped fighting or because her quality of life isn’t worth preserving, but simply because I can no longer afford the treatment that keeps her comfortable and alive. That thought is devastating and I’m doing everything I can to prevent it.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go directly towards Mila’s insulin, medication, veterinary care, monitoring equipment, prescription food and treatment for the complications she continues to face. If you’re unable to donate, sharing Mila’s story would mean the world to us and could help us reach someone who can.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your kindness, generosity, and support give us hope during the most difficult chapter of our lives. Because of people like you, Mila has the chance to keep doing what she loves most-enjoying life, making memories and staying by my side for more years to come.
