It is with a heavy heart that I share Miladin has passed.
He has been battling this disease for a very long time. He loved to live. He loved to joke (event though I sometimes didn't understand his jokes). He loved to teach until he no longer could.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your support during a difficult time.
Helping Miladin Find Peace and Dignity in His Final Days
Hi all. I’m reaching out because someone dear to me who I've known for over 30 years, and is a father figure, Miladin, is nearing the end of his life with stage 4 kidney cancer that has metastisized to his lungs and lymph nodes. I’ve been doing everything I can to care for him and make sure he isn’t alone during this time, but it’s been an incredibly hard road, physically, mentally, and financially.
He has no family here, no real support system, and very limited financial means. I’ve been trying for months to get him home care through the city and state, but the process has been painfully slow. Watching him suffer while waiting for help that never seems to come has been frustrating and heartbreaking.
Miladin is an animal lover and an artist — a thoughtful man who could explain the smallest details of things and bring them to life through his drawings and memory. He deserves peace and dignity in his final days.
His last and final wish is to have his remains delivered to his sister and nephew in his home country, Herzegovina, so he can rest among family.
I’m trying to raise funds to help me cover the costs of an in home aide (until the state/county finally approves it), funeral expenses, transportation of his remains, and any other final expenses so that he can have the dignity and peace he deserves — and so that I can give him the care and respect every person deserves at the end of life.
If you can donate or share this, I would be deeply grateful. Every bit of help makes a difference — not just to help me help him through this tough time, but for the belief that no one should have to face the end of their life completely alone.
Thank you for reading and for caring.
