My name is Mikylah James, and I am pursuing my Bachelor of Social Work degree at Florida Atlantic University. Through FAU, I have the opportunity to participate in a faculty-led study abroad program in Dublin, Ireland, with the colleges of Social Work and Criminal Justice in summer 2026, where I will learn how politics and public policy directly shape the lives of communities.

As a social work major, I am committed to helping people impacted by systemic barriers. Ireland is one of the best examples with its dedication to community success through leading social welfare systems and progressive approaches to care, as well as its internationally recognized harm reduction approach to substance use.

As a full-time student supporting myself, the cost of this program is a significant challenge. Donations will directly fund program fees, airfare, meals, tuition, and other essential expenses associated with studying abroad. It would also strengthen my education by allowing me to gain hands-on international experience that does not come in a traditional classroom.

Asking for help is not easy, but it is worth it for my future. Any contribution, no matter the amount, brings me one step closer to participating in this life-changing academic experience. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting my future as a social worker.
