Help Support Mike’s Recovery After His Stroke

My name is Brooke, and I’m writing on behalf of my dad, Mike.

A few weeks ago, my dad suffered a major stroke. It’s the first time in my life I’ve ever seen him in a hospital bed. He’s always been strong, hardworking, and the kind of man who takes care of everyone else before himself.

Dad recently retired to help his mom in Central California after losing his dad. He loves spending his time building cars and trucks in his shop in Southern Oregon, never slowing down, never asking for help. Unfortunately, because of the timing of his retirement, he doesn’t have health insurance.

Even in the hospital, he’s tried to check himself out and has refused surgery—worried about being a financial burden on his family. But I want him to know he is not alone. We will figure out the bills, and we will fight through this together. My mom and brother have been by his side every day.

Right now, we need help making his home wheelchair- and walker-accessible, so he can come home safely. We will need to remodel is whole bathroom. He’s always been there for everyone, he's always made sure my daughter and I had a roof over our heads and food on the table. Now it’s my turn to make sure he’s taken care of.
