Hi, my name is Mike, and I’m preparing for the most critical step in my fight against leukemia: a bone marrow transplant at Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle.
In June 2024, I was diagnosed with leukemia and underwent five rounds of intensive chemotherapy through the end of the year. By December, the cancer was no longer detectable, a huge victory. But genetic testing still showed a small percentage of inversion 16, a flipped chromosome that can silently produce abnormal cells and lead to relapse.
To reduce the risk of recurrence, I enrolled in a clinical trial at Fred Hutch and received a targeted therapy called Mylotarg. It worked! My latest bone marrow test showed zero cancer and no trace of inversion 16. Still, my doctors strongly recommend a bone marrow transplant to give me the best shot at a full, lasting recovery.
My transplant is scheduled for July 29, and I’ll be required to stay within 30 minutes of Fred Hutch for 100 days of post-transplant care. This means relocating to Seattle and having a full-time caregiver living with me during that time.
Why I’m Asking for Help
While my insurance will cover a large portion of my medical costs and some of the housing, I’m still facing significant out-of-pocket expenses for:
Extended housing in Seattle
Caregiver support (meals, transportation, lodging)
Daily living expenses
Medical supplies and medications not fully covered
Income gaps while I recover
Your support will help cover these costs so I can focus fully on healing, not on finances.
Every Bit Helps ❤️
Whether you can give $10 or $100, every donation moves me closer to recovery with fewer financial worries. If you can’t give right now, sharing this page is also a huge help.
Thank you for being part of my journey. With your support, I’m not facing this alone.
