Support Mike's Fight Against Severe Infections

Donation protected
My name is Paige, and I am the daughter of Mike. I am setting up this account to help my parents with finances since my mom is unable to work, being at my dad’s bedside. My dad is also on his 2nd week of trying to retire. Many know how expensive the world has gotten and my mom not leaving and having to buy food and drinks adds up.

He has chronic health problems to begin with, like lupus and a few other medical concerns. He has lived in pain for years and is still the hardest working man I know. Within the last week, he got an abscess under his arm that he has gotten before, and antibiotics help it, and he gets better. On July 3rd, he went to the urgent care to get antibiotics and then went about his day, only to be getting worse despite the antibiotics.

On July 6, he finally went to the ER, where they were going to send him home! But my dad said no, you guys need to do blood work because I really don't feel well. Normally, he sucks it up and won't tell you he is in pain or sick, so there was something going on. Come to find out, his blood work came back very high; his blood pressure was very low, and he was septic. had he of gone home he would have died.

They took him by ambulance to a bigger hospital, St Johns main, and he has declined so fast. His kidneys are now failing, and they claimed he was having an allergic reaction to the sepsis antibiotics, so they took him off and put him on something else. I came to stay up and help my mom on July 8th, and I noticed his so-called (allergic rash) which I took one look at it and didn't believe it was an allergic reaction.

I fought to get them to have a doctor come look and to get blood work done and other tests done. Come to find out, it’s not an allergic reaction, it’s another life-threatening infection caused by the open abscess he had when he first got here. He has started dialysis and will be on new antibiotics in hopes to fight off the infection. He is unable to do anything on his own and he's very confused. We are hoping the meds and dialysis will kick in soon and he will start showing improvement. At this point, he looks like he will be in the hospital for several more days.
