Mike Whalen has spent his life serving others. As a long standing firefighter with the Bureau of Land Management, he has worn many hats in the Incident Command System, most recently as a Logistics Section Chief for the Great Basin Complex Incident Management Team 5, and in the past as an Incident Commander and countless other critical roles.

Mike is known for his big smile, his steady leadership, and his ability to brighten the day of everyone he meets. Whether on the fireline, in camp, or back at home, he has always given his all to protect lives, property, and communities across the country.

Recently, while serving on a fire assignment, Mike suffered a heart attack. He now faces a long road to recovery, and it is our chance to give back to someone who has given so much. Mike has touched the hearts of thousands through his dedication, humor, and kindness.
