Dear egg lovers and supporters of small-scale agriculture: This fundraiser is to support funeral costs for beloved egg farmer, friend, and neighbor Mike Trent. Mike passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 19. I first met Mike in 2019, then in 2020 I helped him sell eggs when all his restaurant customers were forced to close during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. Seeing how many people wanted farm-fresh eggs right in their neighborhoods, we set up an egg CSA in Portland that has had hundreds of subscribers over the last five years, providing both nutritious eggs and a sense of community. Everyone loved to talk with Mike as he made his rounds to drop off eggs. As an egg host site ourselves, we credit Mike with helping us meet many neighbors and develop new friendships. Mike touched so many lives with his kindness, humor, and commitment to farms, fish, and supporting neighbors and friends. He will be sorely missed. Mike’s family is working hard to keep the egg business in Cloverdale going while his estate gets sorted out, and this is taking all the cash they have at hand. Contributions to the funeral costs will help take one worry away during this difficult time. Please consider a contribution; your support will mean so much to Mike’s wife Teresa and his stepkids, as well as everyone who depends on Trent Family Farms for delicious and nutritious eggs.
