Support Mike Swope's Fight Against Cancer

Life has not always been kind to Mike Swope. He made it through a rough childhood, came back from serious injuries sustained in a past motorcycle accident, and survived being buried alive in a dangerous worksite collapse, just to name a few. He has persevered through big challenges and seems to come back stronger every time.

In early July 2024, Mike was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. He is a fighter, so it should be no surprise that he is pursuing an aggressive treatment plan. Mike has been a self-employed Master Plumber for over 25 years, but cannot return to work for the foreseeable future. Mike's wife, Mary, has changed her work schedule to be with him at appointments and care for him as needed. This means their household is bringing in a very limited income and needs financial help. Although Mike has insurance, his plan has incredibly high deductibles and copays, and the treatments are not cheap. We’ve set the goal of this GoFundMe at $75,000, though right now, it’s too soon to even estimate the costs of care and beyond.

As word has spread about Mike's illness, we are grateful to the many people who have asked how they can help. The most immediate way you can help Mike and Mary is with financial donations. Every single dollar will go directly to support medical costs as well as everyday costs like groceries, transportation, and utilities.

Mike has spent the last 40 years working six days a week to provide for his family. Despite keeping an intense work schedule, he never turned down a request for help from friends and family in need. Even if he just worked a 13-hour day, he would stop by after work to offer a hand. There is no question that Mike is “all in” when it comes to his friends and family, and now he needs US to be “all in” for him.
