The Situation
For 44 years, Mike Quinlivan has been a master of his craft. As a lead fabricator and mentor, he’s built the infrastructure of our community and shared his expertise with everyone he met. But since October 2025, Mike’s life has been turned upside down. What started as a severe workplace injury - resulting in broken vertebrae and emergency back surgery - led to a devastating discovery: Stage 4 Kidney Cancer.
The Crisis
After decades of hard work, Mike is now facing his toughest battle yet. To make matters worse, Worker’s Compensation has stopped providing
benefits, leaving him with no income while medical bills for chemotherapy and radiation continue to pile up.
Between mortgage payments, rising prescription costs, and basic groceries, Mike is at risk of losing the very home he is trying to recover in. We cannot let a man who has given so much to his industry and community become homeless while fighting for his life.
A Pillar of the San Diego Car Community
If you know the San Diego car scene, you know Mike. From the age of 12, he’s been a "genuine car guy".
He is a staple at:
- The Ramona Car Club & Ramona Drag Strip
- Escondido & El Cajón Car Clubs
- The San Diego Convention Center (featuring his ground-up 1972 Blazer build with its RJ-572 Special motor) Mike has spent his life volunteering and helping others make their automotive dreams a reality. Now, it’s our turn to help him.
How You Can Help
We are raising funds to cover Mike’s medical co-pays, life-saving medications, and essential living expenses.
- $50 can provide a week’s worth of meals.
- $100 can cover a critical medical consultation.
- Honestly, any amount helps keep Mike in his home and focused on his treatment.
Double Your Impact!
We are hoping for local businesses in Ramona to secure donation matching. Every dollar you give brings us closer to ensuring Mike receives the care he deserves without the fear of losing everything.
Please donate, share this page, and check the updates below to see Mike’s progress. We are incredibly grateful for the heartbeat of this community.
