Friends - our fellow Horseman and great friend Mike Puhich is currently in a real fight for his life. Mike has been waiting for a liver for about 18 months, but it looks like his turn might finally have arrived!! It’s been 18 months of hell… there aren’t many who could survive being so acutely sick for so long. At the same time, he’s handled it with his usual mix of class, courage and humor… trying to be around his horses as much as he could, and amazingly, still almost always ready with the signature Puhich smirk and the one liner! If you’ve been around the block in this game at all, there’s a good chance Mike has done you a favor, bought you dinner, or at the very least, made you laugh - that’s just who he is.

He’s currently at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, where prospects of a transplant are improving by the day. But he’s going to need help… His 25 year position at Pegasus is no more, due to the passing of Dr. Mark Dedomenico over the winter. He finds himself in a vulnerable spot, needing months of heavily supervised care to get back on his feet health-wise, before he can even think of what he’s going to do next professionally. I know that there is always a need out there, but I also know that the Thoroughbred community is exactly that… a community of Thoroughbred humans who take care of their own. I know Mike has friends in every corner of this Country and beyond who would like to help, so this is an opportunity for us all to show him some love and help him through the challenging times ahead.
