Mike Nalewaja, member of IBEW Local 1547, passed away the weekend before Thanksgiving. He started his electrical career non-union but a few years after journeying out he was recruited into the IBEW. He quickly learned and realized the wonderful opportunities and lifestyle he was able to afford, being part of the union. He shared his craft of electrical work with many apprentices who looked up to him. He was truly a great teacher to all!
Mike loved to share his experiences of his new found brotherhood. He was able to help organize over 10 journeyman into the IBEW. Thanks to his work 10 more guys are able to understand what unions truly stand for and how the brotherhood stands together for good. In August of 2025 at the IBEW Membership Development conference he was honored with an award for his efforts in organizing, presented by the IBEW President Kenneth Cooper and Secretary Treasurer Paul Noble.
Mike was loved by all who worked with and around him, whether they be electricians or not. We are asking for donations for his wife who is now the sole provider of their home. Anything helps!
