In January 2025, Lynne was unexpectedly diagnosed with a congenital heart condition she was born with, requiring immediate surgery to implant a mechanical aortic valve. This life-altering event forced the closure of her business. At the same time, Mike’s position was unexpectedly eliminated. While this allowed Mike to be by Lynne’s side to provide unwavering care, it compounded the stress of their situation, especially as most of their family have moved away, leaving just the two of them to navigate these challenges.

In May, Lynne suffered a heart attack, further complicating her recovery and adding to their emotional burdens. As they worked through these challenges, another devastating blow came. About three weeks ago, Mike was diagnosed with a severe heart condition requiring a quadruple bypass surgery. Initially scheduled for September 4, doctors urgently called them back to Minnesota from South Dakota after reviewing his angiogram, insisting that the open-heart surgery be performed immediately due to the critical state of his heart.

With Lynne still recovering and unable to fully manage daily tasks, the couple is facing overwhelming stress. They are grappling with the costs of having closed their business, the loss of Mike’s income, and additional expenses for travel, lodging, and food as they navigate these back-to-back health crises.
