On June 24th, my uncle, Mike Lynady, was T-boned so hard by a driver who ran a stop sign that his car was flipped over and to make matters worse the driver was uninsured, further adding to the stress of the situation. Officers that were on the scene said they were sure they were coming to find a corpse, and EMTs thought even if he made it through the ambulance ride, he would pass away in the hospital due to the extent of his injuries. Through nothing short of a miracle, Mike is still with us, but his injuries are extensive. He suffered ten broken ribs, one of which led to a punctured lung which required a chest tube, a fractured hip, a shoulder injury, whiplash, and head injuries as well as a concussion.
All of these injuries mean Mike has a long road to recovery ahead of him which so far includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, and frequent chest x-rays to monitor the progress of his punctured lung and the healing of his ribs over the next 6 months. Full recovery from all of these injuries may take as long as a year and may involve hip surgery further down the line.
As Mike recovers, he will face significant expenses, the stress of which will be compounded by the loss of income he will experience throughout his recovery. Any donation anyone is kind enough to give will go towards living expenses, medical treatments, his occupational and physical therapy sessions, and any additional surgeries that may be necessary. No donation is too small and our entire family appreciates anything you can give.
