Support Mike, Jenna & Baby Cooper After Toxic Mold Crisis

I am sharing this on behalf of my son Mike, and daughter-in-law, Jenna, who have recently faced an unimaginable ordeal after purchasing their first home in Winnipeg.

In December, they were overjoyed to finally buy a place to call their own—a home where they could settle down and raise their 14-month-old son, Cooper. They poured their savings into thoughtful renovations to make it their dream home. But soon after moving in, that dream began to unravel.

Within weeks, both Mike and Jenna started experiencing unexplained health issues. Despite hiring multiple professionals, each one assured them the home was mold-free. Still concerned, they made the difficult and costly decision to move out, prioritizing their health and the well-being of their son.

Desperate for answers, they took matters into their own hands—tearing down an entire kitchen wall. What they found confirmed their worst fears: visible mold. They used what remained of their savings to hire a professional remediation team, hoping this would finally put an end to their nightmare.

But just days after moving back in, their symptoms returned. A deeper inspection revealed mold in multiple areas of the house.

They’ve now had to move into a rental while trying to figure out their next steps. With no legal or financial recourse available—and after consulting lawyers, their lender, and their real estate agent—they’ve realized that selling is the only option and they will disclose the mold, which significantly lowers its market value. On top of that, they must part with all upholstered and fabric furniture due to contamination with mold mycotoxins, which continue to make them ill.

They are facing the heartbreaking loss of their home, their investment, their savings, and their health.

This experience has taken a devastating toll on their physical, emotional, and financial well-being. With mounting remediation costs, temporary housing expenses, and no support available, the financial burden has become overwhelming.

Through it all, their baby boy Cooper has been their guiding light—bringing joy, comfort, and hope during this incredibly challenging time.
