Mike Elleman lost his battle with cancer on February 20, at age 62. He is survived by Tatyana (Tanya), his wife, and son Nikita, age 10.
This unexpected and sudden loss has left this wonderful family devastated and overwhelmed. As we all take time to grieve with them, we want to do everything we can to ease the financial stress during this difficult time. Any support that any of you can provide for Tanya and Nikita is greatly appreciated. The funds will go towards the funeral and medical expenses, their family, and daily needs for the trying days ahead.
Mike will be remembered as a world-renowned missile expert, who spent his career helping to mitigate dangers from the unchecked spread of dangerous weapons. A former scientist-turned-UN-missile-inspector and analyst, he was known for his gift of explaining complex missile systems to journalists, policy-makers, students and mentees in an approachable way. He was a top expert with unsurpassed personal character.
Mike was a beacon of pride for his family. He cherished his wife, Tanya, and showered his son, Nikita, with the utmost love. Nikita meant the world to Mike. He had high aspirations about the heights his son could reach. We can never give Nikita back his father, but we can show that he is cared for and can pay back some of the contributions that Mike gave so freely over the years to making our world a safer place.
A huge heartfelt Thank You for your love and support!
