Hello Friends and Family,
Many of you know that my daddy, Mike Cabe, had heart surgery on March 18th. Currently, he is still in the hospital in Wilmington. We are now being told he needs to be moved for further and better evaluation and possibly be put on the heart transplant list. Tomorrow, 3/29/2024, the Wilmington Hospital will be moving daddy to Duke University Hospital. As you can imagine, his closest family (including myself) would like to stay near him during this time. For that to happen, we are humbly asking for support from our family and friends.
Your support would go to:
Food and gas – for traveling
General and other expenses – with the extended loss of time at work, most of what is being earned goes directly to standard monthly expenses with a deficit. Your support would help us to continue paying for the basic items.
Lodging – we currently have assistance with lodging, but we would like to lessen the burden where possible.
Currently, it is predicted that we are looking at a long haul of at least 1-2 months. Any support would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on daddy. He woke up today and responded to yes and no questions that we asked. He was trying his best to talk to us but he couldn’t yet. He is wiggling his toes and fingers also which is a huge thing for us. Our family is so very grateful and thankful for all the calls, texts, and donations from everyone. We apologize if any calls or texts have gone unanswered. As you can imagine, we have been a little preoccupied. Please continue to pray for daddy. We still have a long road to recovery. He is a fighter though!! We love you all!!

Just wanted to give an update on daddy. He has improved so much since being at Duke. Both of the machines that were supporting his heart are now taken off and he is off all meds that would support his heart as well. He still has the trach in but has not been on the vent in over 48 hours. He is standing and walking with assistance. As soon as he is physically strong enough they will be moving him to a step down unit and we are thrilled. He is working hard on that part now! Please continue to pray for healing and strength for daddy. He still has a long road of recovery but we are getting there. Thank you for all the donations, calls, texts, and visits from everyone. It truly means so much to me/us. But most of all thank you for the prayers. They are being answered!! I have my very own walking (soon running) miracle!! Thank you Jesus!!!

Wanted to give another update on daddy. He was finally love to a step down unit on Friday and is doing well. We are working on building his physical strength. He has a swallow test this coming Wednesday or Thursday and if he passes that then he will be able to start on foods and liquid that are not being fed to him through a tube. Or next goals are of course eating, building strength, and getting the trach out. He is determined in his exercises because he knows that is what will help him get home. We are looking at probably another couple of weeks here at Duke and then an inpatient rehabilitation. He is ready to be home though so continue to pray for his mental and physical strength. We have seen God move in mighty ways through al of this and we know He will continue to show up for daddy!! Thank you for the support and prayers through this journey. We love you all!!
