Hi everyone,

I am starting this GoFundMe for my friend and coworker, Mike Berry.

As of recently, Mike worked at Homesense in Portsmouth, NH. What many likely did not know at the time is that while he was working hard to provide a good experience and environment for the store’s customers, Mike was battling Stage 4 colon cancer. Since this diagnosis a few years ago, Mike has been been working twice as many hours as he had already been putting in, trying to support extremely high medical bills in conjunction with life necessities, such as rent, groceries, and other bills.

Recently, Mike’s doctor told him that he can no longer work. With the cancer spreading and not much else that can be done, Mike is now left trying to pay the costs of living and any medical assistance without an income.

The biggest shock in this life-altering event? Mike has been denied his social security money. More than once. Mike was told that, for him to qualify for social security money, he would need to be out of work for a certain period of time and be able to show that he has not been working for a certain period of time. Valuable time that he may not have.

In a time where Mike should be resting and reflecting on his life, he should not be burdened with the idea of having to worry about paying to live comfortably for any time that he has left. The idea that Mike is being told that he will have nothing by a system that is designed to help is an outrage.

If anybody that can could donate, that is very much appreciated. Hopefully we can help Mike more than the corporation that he worked for, or the state has helped him. If you cannot donate at this time it is completely understandable, but we would only ask that you share Mikes fundraiser so that we can continue to help this man as much as we can, and assure that he is as comfortable as possible. thank you all so much for your support and donations so far! It means the world to Mike, and I’m so grateful he has such a wonderful community behind him! They just told him yesterday he was denied again for social security, so he really needs the money for his bills like rent, car payment etc. if you can not donate that’s completely understandable but even a share can help him so much ❤️ thank you guys for everything.
