Hello family n friends of Mike & Kelly Oliver. We are reaching out for financial support for medical & living expenses for Mike & Kelly.

As many of you are aware, Mike was taken to his local hospital on Thursday, Sept 5, with what doctors original dx'd as pneumonia and a UTI. After 2 days and no signs of improvement, as everything was actually getting worse, (Sepsis, Liver disease, Kidney failure and Pancreatitis). He was then moved to ICU at that hospital and didn’t get any better so on Sept 9th they rushed him to the ICU at RUSH Chicago. Where he started going into multiple organ failure and doctors couldn't figure out what was causing everything. On Sat, Sept 12, they finally got results that he tested positive for a rare Missouri tick bite - Ehrlichia Chaffeensis. We finally had some answers and prayed that there would not be any permanent organ damage. He was still in kidney failure and receiving round the clock dialysis and a tube was inserted into his airway (intubated) to assist him in breathing so his body could work on healing.

Although he has some improvement, he is still in ICU - day 23 (day 26 in hospital). His wife, Kelly, along with his daughter, Christine, have been at hospital every day being his voice n advocate, while he has been fighting for his life.

Unfortunately, this has begun to become a huge financial hardship, as Kelly has not worked since Sept 6. While she is on FML, she is not being paid. Mike is getting short-term disability, but only at 60% of his salary. Bills are piling up - everyday bills (mortgage, utilites, car pmt, insurances, etc) and general living expenses along with the medical expenses, which are going to be astronomical. At this point, we don't know when he will get out of ICU and the hospital, and afterwards he will be transferred to a rehab facility for what could be several months since he has been flat on his back for so long. We have been told to estimate 1 week of rehab for every day he has been flat on his back.

They are in need of financial assistance to help cover these everyday bills, as well as medical expenses until he is recovered and can hopefully return to work. They would NEVER ask for help so we, his siblings (Mary, Teri, Bob, and Dave) are asking for them. Mike & Kelly would give the shirt off their back to those in need and have always been there for everyone else - family, friends, and strangers alike. Now they need people to be there for them.
