Introduction:

Hello, everyone. We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for help on behalf of two incredible individuals: Mike and George Fisher. These two brothers, aged in their mid-sixties, are facing a battle that no one should have to endure—both recently received extremely difficult medical diagnoses which will require extensive treatment.

Mike and George have spent their lives dedicated to their work. Mike was a contractor/carpenter and George a truck driver in their younger years. For the past 15 years, both have worked in the footwear industry, Mike as a materials cutter and George as an outsole stitcher for Quoddy in Lewiston, Maine. They are not just colleagues of ours who work at Quoddy; they are cornerstones of their community, known for their hard work, dedication, and friendship.

The Challenge:

Recently, both Mike and George were diagnosed with urgent medical conditions which will require extensive treatment. Mike will need a unique and delicate surgery (cricopharyngeal myotomy), which no one is performing in Maine or New England at this time (likely he will be referred to a surgeon in Houston, Texas). George has already begun treatment for stage 4 cancer, both radiation and chemotherapy.

Although Mike has continued to work through his condition as much as he is able, George has had to leave his job so he can be cared for by his son. Neither Mike nor George have ever asked for help as they are both proud men who have always found a way to make it through life’s challenges.

This news has been a devastating blow, not just to them, but to everyone who knows and loves them. While they have always been the ones offering support and encouragement to others, they now find themselves in need of the same compassion and assistance.

What They Face and How You Can Help:

We are seeking to raise $20,000 to help Mike and George with the following:

• Medical Costs: The treatments for both brothers are extensive and expensive. The medical bills they will accumulate for surgeries, chemotherapy, and other necessary treatments are overwhelming.

• Daily Living Expenses: With Mike limited by his ability to work full-time, and George completely unable to work, their financial strains have intensified. The brothers are also in need of support to cover daily living expenses, such as rent, utilities, and groceries.

• Supplemental Needs: Unknown expenses which will arise over the next couple of months, including additional medicine, home health needs, travel, etc., all of which are certain to add additional layers of financial stress.
