My name is Mike Akkerman. I am an artist, filmmaker, and historian who primarily focuses on WWII history, and specifically the Battle of Omaha Beach. My goal is to visit Normandy, France and experience the battlefield in person. Despite dedicating so much of my research to the area, I have never been able to visit Normandy.
