Anyone who knows my brother knows that he has an infectious personality that can light up any room. His humor, generosity, and the way he makes everyone feel seen and appreciated are just a few of the reasons people are drawn to him. Whether he's cracking jokes, sharing a laugh with friends, or out on the waves surfing, Mike’s always full of life and energy.

However, life took an unexpected turn for him last year. Slowly, Mike began losing movement in his left arm and hand, and the situation only got worse. This made it impossible for him to continue working, do the things he loves, or just simple tasks around the house. After seeking medical advice, doctors informed him that he urgently needed spinal fusion surgery or risked becoming paraplegic. The surgery was critical to prevent further loss of movement in his body, and after months of waiting and preparation, he underwent a 6-hour procedure on April 28, 2025.

The road to recovery hasn’t been easy. There were complications that kept him in the hospital longer than expected, and now, he’s facing a lengthy recovery. He has to wear a neck brace to limit his movement, and sadly, he will permanently lose about 20% of the mobility in his neck.

Despite the love and support he’s received from family, friends, and the community, the financial burden of his recovery is overwhelming. He’s still unable to work, and with mounting bills and the threat of losing his home, he needs help. The medical expenses alone are staggering, and with no income coming in, it’s been difficult to keep up with the basics, like housing and utilities.

My brother has always been there for others, and now it’s our turn to show up for him. Any support, no matter the amount, will go directly to helping cover his medical bills, living expenses, and help him get back on his feet.
