Hello! My name is Mikayah, and I’m about to begin my first year teaching high school English. I’m incredibly excited to help my students explore literature, enhance their writing skills, and foster a love for language. However, as a first-year teacher, I’m facing a significant financial gap that I need help bridging.
Over the past few years, I’ve worked 40-60 hours a week while attending school and managing my student loan debt. My student teaching stipend ends this month, and while I’ve secured part-time work at Wake Forest University and Governor’s School, my income will be limited until I start teaching full-time in the fall.
To make my classroom a welcoming, engaging space for my students, I’m asking for your help in providing essential classroom supplies and learning resources. Every donation will go directly toward:
-Writing materials: Notebooks, pens, pencils, highlighters, and other tools to ensure every student has what they need to succeed.
-Learning tools: From dry-erase markers and erasers to post-it notes and staplers to facilitate dynamic classroom activities.
-Storage solutions: Bins, containers, and shelving units to keep the classroom organized and functional.
-Lighting: Overhead lighting can sometimes be too harsh, especially for students with sensory issues. I plan to invest in softer, adjustable lighting to create a more comfortable environment for everyone.
I’m passionate about providing my students with the best learning experience possible, and your support will make that happen. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated and will make a big difference in my students' educational journey.
Thank you for your generosity, and thank you for being part of this exciting chapter of my teaching career!
