Support Miguel's Recovery and Newborn Baby

Donation protected
On August 19th, Miguel was in a horrific car accident on his way to meet his wife, Morgan, at a sonogram appointment. As traffic came to a sudden stop due to tree cutting on the side of the interstate, Miguel rear-ended a transfer truck. If Miguel had not tried to swerve quickly to the left, he would not be with us today. The passenger side of his Tacoma went under the semi-truck. Miguel sustained a serious spinal cord injury, spanning from C4 through T12 with a C7 burst. He was taken to Mission Trauma Center and underwent spinal fusion surgery. He also suffered a lacerated liver and shattered wrist. He has lower body paralysis and will be transferred to a Neuro/Spine rehabilitation center once medically stable, with an anticipated stay of 1-2 months.

On September 7th, amidst this tragic event, Miguel and Morgan welcomed their new baby boy into the world. We are uncertain what our future holds as we support Miguel and Morgan during this journey, but we do know that BUT GOD, Miguel would not be with us today. He is with us, he can talk, he knows what happened to him, he knows he is lucky to be alive, he knows God has plans for his life, and he wants God’s glory to shine through his story. Miguel is a testament to what God can do in someone’s life, having overcome addiction and a life of uncertainty to being a hardworking man who loves to spend time with his family and spread the word of God. During a recent high fever in ICU, Miguel was having some confusion and an altered mental state. At one point, he opened his eyes and mumbled, “To have a good life and to have peace, you have to give your life to Christ.” All we can say to that is Amen and thank you, God, for all you have done and continue to do in Miguel’s life.

At this time, we know Miguel will not work for a very long time, if ever. Morgan will have no income due to unpaid maternity leave and being with Miguel during rehabilitation, as well as taking care of her newborn. During the time Miguel is in rehabilitation, Morgan will still have her rent payment and expenses at their home in Lincolnton, as well as a need for a ramp to be built at that home for Miguel’s eventual return home. There may also be other home modifications that we will learn about as this process unfolds, as well as a wheelchair van. We ask that you consider donating to Miguel and Morgan as your heart leads to help them with expenses and navigating this new world with a disability and a newborn baby. And if you can’t donate, please include them in your daily prayers. Thanks be to God and thank you to everyone for your support during this difficult time.
