On Monday, September 21, 2026, my family received the worst news that no family could ever prepare for.

My name is Angalina Hernandez, and I am setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my family after the tragic and unexpected passing of my dad, Miguel Rodriguez. Miguel passed away at only 40 years old following a motorcycle accident. He was a loving husband, father of four, grandfather, son, brother, and someone who meant so much to so many people.

Miguel was the man who stepped up to raise me and my sister as his own, and he and my mom went on to have two children together. My mom and Miguel shared 19 years together and built a life and family that revolved around their children.

He was also a former Odessa, Texas police officer who served our community with care and later served as a campus police officer at our hometown university, UTPB. But above everything else, Miguel was a devoted father. He was the type of dad who showed up to every single one of his children’s sporting events. He didn’t just support his own kids—he showed love and support to their teammates and their families as well. No matter what, he went out of his way to make sure he was there.

He leaves behind four children, including my sister, who just started her senior year of high school. She is now facing milestones that no child ever imagines having to experience without their dad by their side, including her senior year, graduation, and eventually being sent off to college. Our entire family is devastated by this sudden loss.

Miguel was also the main provider for our family, and my mom is now facing the unimaginable reality of becoming a widow while continuing to care for their family. Asking for help is never something I would want our family to have to do, but right now, we truly need the support.
