Support Miguel Garcia's Battle Against Cancer

My name is Albert Martin, and I am asking for your help to save my stepson, Miguel Garcia. Miguel is 31 years old and just diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Lord, I hate cliches, but he is truly one of the kindest and most humble people you could ever hope to meet, and it breaks my heart that these things only seem to happen to the best people.

The outpouring of love and support from Miguel's friends, family, and co-workers has been a bit overwhelming, to be honest. We always knew he was special, but this situation has really shown us how much of an impact he has had on so many others. For me personally, I changed as a man when he and his mom came into my life. I knew I had to be better than I had been before because he is such a wonderful, loving, compassionate, and understanding young man, and I wanted to live up to his expectations of how a man should behave.

I came to this country from Cuba as a little boy, and I have worked hard my entire life without asking for financial assistance, so asking for help or money goes against everything I've ever believed in. But this is not about me at all; this is about my best friend, my kid, who deserves to live a full and happy life surrounded by love and joy. I humbly and respectfully ask if you can contribute ANYTHING at all to help offset the mountain of medical bills that we are facing during this horrible situation. We understand these are hard times for just about everyone, and we have no expectations or delusions about what this GoFundMe account will accomplish, but every little bit matters, and we appreciate any assistance whatsoever that his friends or loved ones can give.

I wish more than anything in the world that I could trade places with him right now. I've lived a full life and want nothing more for myself. I just want this wonderful and beautiful young man to have the same chance.
