Miguel de Leon was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer this past Spring of 2025. The news has been absolutely devastating for him and his family, turning their world upside down in a matter of months. Despite the challenges, Miguel has shown incredible strength and resilience as he began his treatment journey.
Recently, Miguel faced a serious setback after his second round of chemotherapy. He struggled to breathe for several days and was diagnosed with pneumonia. The medication he received may have caused an allergic reaction, making it even harder for him to breathe and increasing his crippling coughing attacks. On Saturday, November 22nd, Miguel was rushed to the hospital in Sioux City, where the ER staff quickly decided to transfer him to the University of Nebraska Buffett Cancer Center for superior care and further testing. This all happened right before the Thanksgiving holiday, adding to the emotional and financial strain on his family.
Incredibly, Miguel is fortunate to have an amazing family who has stepped in to help care for his children while he and his wife, Lupita, are away. Unfortunately, with both Miguel and Lupita unable to work during his hospitalization and recovery, the financial burden will become overwhelming. Medical expenses, travel costs, and daily living expenses like mortgage, utilities, groceries, gas, and credit card balances will continue to add up. Your support—whether big or small—will make a tremendous difference for Miguel and his loved ones during this challenging time and throughout the holiday season. Please consider helping Miguel on his journey to fighting and beating this stage 4 stomach cancer!!
