Our beloved ballet teacher and artistic director, Miguel Campaneria, recently underwent an unexpected transfemoral amputation of his right leg. As he begins this challenging journey of recovery, we are raising funds to help cover the cost of his prosthetic, medical care, rehabilitation, and ongoing recovery expenses.
Miguel has dedicated his life to inspiring students through ballet, sharing his artistry, discipline, and passion with so many in our community. Even in the face of this life-changing event, he remains incredibly resilient and determined to return to what he loves most — teaching, mentoring, and sharing the joy of ballet.
His impact left on his students is summarized by his former student, Sydney Dolan, Principal Dancer at Philadelphia Ballet Company:
"Miguel Campaneria is one of the most special people in my life. Not only has he been my teacher and mentor for 16 years, but he continues to be one of my most important role models.
Miguel has always radiated tenacity and positivity, inspiring me to carry those qualities into every challenge life and my career have brought my way. As he always says, he is “strong like bull”—and he has taught all of us to find that same strength within ourselves.
I began training with Miguel when I was just nine years old, and I will never forget that first sense of wonder. His energy, his words, and his belief in me were incredibly empowering. He completely reshaped what ballet meant to me—teaching me that it is not just about perfect positions or precise movement, but about expression, freedom, and courage.
Miguel made me believe I could do anything. He gives his students the confidence and determination to pursue whatever they set their minds to. Within just a few months of learning from him, I knew I wanted to become a ballerina. He is the reason I chose this path.
In the studio, Miguel creates an environment that feels like both a sanctuary and a playground. He makes even the toughest challenges feel exciting and achievable, building his students up every single day. His sense of humor is unforgettable—I still find myself sharing his jokes when I teach.
I carry so much love and gratitude for Miguel in my heart. He has given so much to his students and his community, and now he deserves that same support in return. Any contribution, big or small, will help support him during this time of adjustment and show him just how many lives he has touched."
We hope to ease the financial burden during this difficult time so that Miguel can focus fully on healing and rebuilding his strength. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference in helping support his recovery and future mobility.
Thank you for your kindness, support, prayers, and generosity as we help Miguel take these next steps forward.
