Mieraf Mitiku is the kind of nurse every team hopes to have; steady under pressure, compassionate with every patient, and always ready to step in when someone needs help. As a registered nurse in Miami Beach, who has spent the last few years working in the GI suite, Mieraf has dedicated 11 years to caring for others with skill, patience, and heart.
Mieraf is originally from Ethiopia and has built a beautiful life here with her husband and their 9-year-old son. She is not only a dedicated nurse; she is a wife, a mother, and a valued teammate whose presence makes the workplace better.
Recently, Mieraf was diagnosed with cancer and has begun chemotherapy. While treatment is underway, what Mieraf needs most is the space to focus on healing, without the added stress that often comes with medical bills, time away from work, childcare needs, and everyday expenses.
That’s why her coworkers and community are coming together to support her and her family. This fundraiser is intended to help with the practical costs that often accumulate during cancer treatment, including:
Out-of-pocket medical expenses (copays, deductibles, medications, appointments)
- Transportation and parking for treatment visits
- Household bills and essentials (utilities, groceries, phone/internet)
- Childcare and family support during appointments and recovery days
- Temporary income support if work hours are reduced
Mieraf has spent her career showing up for patients and colleagues, often in difficult moments. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
If you’re able to donate, thank you. If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser and leaving a supportive message also helps more than you may realize. We will share updates as appropriate, always respecting Mieraf’s privacy and comfort.
Thank you for surrounding Mieraf and her family with support, strength, and care during this fight.
